President Mahama Has No Intention Of Running For A Third Term – Felix Kwakye Ofosu Affirms
Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State for Government Communications, has strongly dismissed allegations by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that former President John Dramani Mahama is plotting to return for a third term in office.
Responding to claims made by NPP General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua, Kwakye Ofosu stated, “President John Mahama has no intention of running for a third term,” as quoted by UTV.
Justin Kodua had alleged that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Mahama are working behind the scenes to remove Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Torkornoo in a bid to manipulate the interpretation of Article 66(2) of the 1992 Constitution. He claims the goal is to argue that the constitutional two-term limit applies only to two consecutive terms, thereby creating room for a possible comeback by the former president.
However, the government official stressed that Mahama remains committed to the constitutional framework and has no desire to circumvent the two-term presidential limit.
