Perez Musik Praises Cwesi Oteng For Pioneering The Urban Gospel Movement

Gospel artiste Perez Musik has commended fellow musician Cwesi Oteng for his groundbreaking role in shaping Ghana’s urban gospel landscape.

In an interview with Roselyn Felli on Joy Prime’s Changes show, the Hewale Lala hitmaker credited Oteng’s 2012 anthem God Dey Bless Me as a defining moment that opened doors for a new wave of gospel musicians.

“Cwesi Oteng is such an incredible inspiration. When he released God Dey Bless Me, it created opportunities many of us are benefiting from today. A lot of what we now enjoy as gospel artistes might not have been possible without him. He truly paved the way,” Perez Musik stated.

He also resonated with Cwesi Oteng’s past remarks about enduring criticism and spiritual resistance from within the gospel community. According to Perez Musik, such experiences are not uncommon. “The attacks are many some are physical, others are spiritual,” he shared.

Touching on how to navigate such challenges, Perez Musik noted that opposition often stems from misunderstanding. He encouraged fellow musicians to remain grounded and discreet in the face of opposition. “Sometimes it’s best to stay the mystery people think you are. The more you talk or reveal, the more ammunition you give them. So, it’s often wiser to stay silent and focused,” he advised.
