Pastor Nathaniel Bassey Issues Strong Warning To Critics Of Hallelujah Challenge
Nathaniel Bassey, founder of the popular Hallelujah Challenge, has responded firmly to critics of the global online prayer movement.
Addressing participants on Day 11 of the 2026 edition a series of midnight praise and worship sessions streamed online — the clergyman spoke about the growing criticism from some members of the Christian community.
Bassey described the backlash as spiritual resistance rather than mere disagreement, stressing that he believes the initiative carries divine purpose and significance.

His remarks follow conversations sparked by Joshua Mary Ugbedeojo Abuh, a Catholic priest who reportedly advised Catholics not to take part during the Lenten season due to differences in religious observances.
The varying opinions have since generated broader discussions about worship practices and interdenominational participation.

Despite the criticism, Bassey reiterated that the Hallelujah Challenge is open to anyone who wishes to join, noting that participation is voluntary. He also urged critics to allow others to worship freely without disruption.

Nathaniel Bassey rains curses, insults, judgement on critics of Hallelujah Challenge during lent. An angry Pastor Nathaniel Bassey threatened his members to warn their relatives who are against Hallelujah Challenge. But in a dramatic twist from the MERCY boldly displayed on his alter he rained curses on critics on the controversial challenge, drawing ancient curses from the Bible as his members looked on bewildered and shocked. This confirms fears that Orthodox members are boycotting and calling for the cancellation of Hallelujah Challenge. A sad fall from grace for Pastor Nathaniel Bassey
