The one-week observation for the late Teddy Osei, a founding member of the legendary Ghanaian music group Osibisa, is set to take place on Thursday, January 30. The event will be held at his family residence in Chirapatre, Kumasi, where family, friends, and well-wishers are expected to gather to honor his memory and legacy.

Teddy Osei, who made significant contributions to the global music scene through his work with Osibisa, passed away recently, and this ceremony will serve as a moment for reflection on his life and remarkable achievements.

The event, a traditional Ghanaian ceremony to mark the one-week anniversary of a person’s passing, will bring together family, friends, and fans of the legendary saxophonist. It is scheduled to take place from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Teddy Osei was a pivotal figure in Osibisa, one of the most influential African bands in history. Known for their distinctive fusion of Afrobeat, rock, and jazz, Osibisa earned global recognition and acclaim throughout the 1970s.

Osei passed away on Tuesday morning, January 14, 2025, at the age of 88.
