One-week Observation For Yaw Sarpong Set For February 19
A one-week observation has been scheduled to honour the late Yaw Sarpong, renowned gospel musician and leader of the Asomafo Band, following his passing.
The celebrated singer and composer passed away on January 20, 2026, in Kumasi at the age of 66, a fact confirmed by his manager, Nana Poku Ashis.
Yaw Sarpong was widely admired for his significant contributions to Ghana’s gospel music scene, particularly through the Asomafo Band, whose spiritually uplifting songs have influenced Christian worship across generations.

The family has announced that the one-week observation will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2026, at Asuofua Park in Kumasi, Ashanti Region.
