Omane Boamah Blasts NPP: “They Should Apologize, Not Campaign”
Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the Defence Minister and Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for its decision to hold presidential primaries on January 31, 2026, to select a flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.

According to Omane Boamah, the NPP is solely focused on its interests and future electoral gains.
Justin Frimpong Koduah, General Secretary of the NPP, announced that the party would hold its presidential primaries on January 31, 2026. He explained that the date was approved by the party’s National Council following a recommendation from the constitution review committee.
“The date for our presidential primaries is set for January 31, 2026,” Koduah stated. “Because there will be a proposal or motion to amend our constitution, a planning committee has been established.”
He also revealed that a nine-member committee, chaired by former Bekwai MP Joseph Osei Owusu, has been formed to oversee preparations for the national delegates conference scheduled for July 2025.
In response to the announcement, Omane Boamah wrote on Facebook:
“The so-called Competent Economic Management Team inflicted enough damage 💔 on pensioners, people with disabilities, women, the youth, and Ghanaians as a whole.
And now, just six months later, instead of offering a genuine apology for their failures, they’re already focused on the next elections.
The NPP only cares about themselves and winning power again.”
