Odumase Explosion: Ashanti Regional Minister Provides Financial Assistance To Victims
In response to the recent tragic explosion in Odumase, near Konongo in the Asante Akyem Central Municipality, Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene has extended financial assistance to the affected households. Each impacted household received a donation of GHC5,000 to aid in their recovery efforts.
The explosion, which occurred on March 6, 2025, resulted in three fatalities and left several others injured, including firefighters who responded to the incident. The blast caused significant structural damage in the area, destroying approximately 30 houses and displacing numerous residents.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the explosion originated from a shop illegally selling mining explosives. In light of this, Dr. Amoakohene has directed security agencies, including the Minerals Commission and the Environmental Protection Agency, to conduct thorough investigations and clamp down on unauthorized sales of such hazardous materials to prevent future tragedies.
The minister also assured the victims of the government’s commitment to support them during this challenging period and has tasked the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) with providing immediate relief to those affected.
