NPP Supporters Gather At Chairman Wontumi’s Home [Video]

Dozens of New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters converged on the Kumasi residence of Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, widely known as Wontumi, on Friday morning after reports emerged that the property had been encircled by armed National Security operatives and police officers.

The incident stirred tension in the area and drew several senior regional party officials to the scene in a show of solidarity.

According to his aide, Oheneba Nana Asiedu, Chairman Wontumi was at home with his wife and a domestic staff member when the security personnel arrived.

Although the reason for the operation remains uncertain, Asiedu confirmed that Wontumi had previously been invited by the police in relation to ongoing investigations into the activities of Akonta Mining.
