No Opposition MP Was Targeted by Security Under Akufo-Addo – Ntim Fordjour
Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, MP for Assin South, has accused the Mahama-led administration of showing increasing intolerance toward dissenting voices, contrasting it with the previous Akufo-Addo government, under which he claims no opposition MP was ever harassed by state security for demanding parliamentary investigations.
His comments follow an incident on Wednesday, April 9, when officials from the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) attempted to arrest him over remarks he made concerning an aircraft allegedly carrying drugs. The situation has since drawn national attention, with Government Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu stating that the standoff escalated due to Rev. Fordjour’s refusal to cooperate. “NIB officials are currently at Ntim Fordjour’s residence.
They have an arrest warrant. He is refusing to cooperate. They have given him time to comply, failing which they will act,” Kwakye Ofosu confirmed, as tensions continue to rise over the incident and its broader implications on free speech and parliamentary independence.
