National Security Withdraws From Wontumi’s Residence Following Standoff With Supporters
A team of National Security agents and police officers that surrounded the residence of Bernard Antwi Boasiako—popularly known as Chairman Wontumi—at Paraku Estate on Friday morning has withdrawn following a tense standoff with his supporters.
The joint operation, which began early in the day, was reportedly conducted under the authority of a search warrant. While Joy News confirmed the existence of the warrant, the specific reason for the raid remains unclear.
Initial reports had suggested Chairman Wontumi might have been placed under house arrest, though his exact whereabouts at the time were not confirmed.
The presence of security forces quickly drew a large crowd of Chairman Wontumi’s supporters, along with several prominent NPP figures from the Ashanti Region, who gathered at the scene in solidarity.
The situation escalated into a heated confrontation, ultimately leading to the withdrawal of the security personnel from the premises.
