Nana Romeo files a defamation lawsuit against Sally Mann and three others, claiming Ghc1M in damages

Accra FM presenter Nana Romeo has taken legal action against entertainment pundit Sally Frimpong Mann and two others for defamation. Nana Romeo is seeking GH₵1 million in damages for what he claims are malicious and reckless statements tarnishing his character.

Details of the Case

The lawsuit, filed in the High Court of Justice, alleges that Sally Mann made defamatory statements about Nana Romeo. These remarks were later shared on social media by the fourth defendant, Clement Asamoah.

The statement of claim asserts that the defamatory remarks were both false and baseless, causing significant harm to Nana Romeo’s reputation. As a respected broadcaster, he argued that these comments could damage the image he has carefully built through years of dedication and hard work.

Nana Romeo also highlighted his achievements, including winning the Best Male Radio Host award at the 2021 Time Ghana Arts and Entertainment Awards and being appointed as a board member of the Ohio African Community Excellence Awards in the USA.

Reliefs Sought

Nana Romeo’s legal team, led by Samuel Kissiedu, Esq., is requesting the court to:

Declare the statements made by the defendants defamatory.
Order the defendants to retract the defamatory statements and issue an unqualified apology, which should be published in the Daily Graphic and all social media platforms.
Award general damages of GH₵1,000,000 for defamation.
Grant aggravated damages for the malicious and reckless publication of the defamatory remarks.
AsIssue an injunction restraining the defendants from making any further defamatory statements against Nana Romeo.
The case brings to light the increasing tension between media personalities and the potential repercussions of comments made in the public domain.
