Moliy Makes History As First Ghanaian Artist To Take The Stage At The BET Awards
Ghanaian singer Moliy has etched her name in history as the first artist from Ghana to perform at the prestigious BET Awards.
On June 9, 2025, she took the stage at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, delivering an electrifying performance of her hit song “Shake It to the Max (FLY).” Joined by collaborator Silent Addy, the duo infused the international stage with vibrant Afrobeats energy.
Clips that quickly went viral on social media showed Moliy dressed in a stunning golden-green outfit, as excited fans waved Ghanaian and Jamaican flags in celebration of the groundbreaking moment.
Moliy’s appearance at the BET Awards followed her high-energy performance at the 2025 Ghana Music Awards in Accra just weeks prior.
To commemorate the historic moment, she shared a celebratory video on social media, proudly captioned: “When you’re the first Ghanaian to perform at the BETs.”

Her trailblazing performance marks a major breakthrough for Ghanaian music on the global stage.
Meanwhile, Nigerian Afropop star Ayra Starr clinched the Best International Act award, becoming the only African artist to win on the night. This milestone marks her first BET Award and places her among a prestigious lineup of past African winners, including Burna Boy, Tems, and Tyla.
