Ghana midfielder Mohammed Kudus made his competitive debut for Tottenham Hotspur in the club’s UEFA Super Cup defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, decided by a penalty shootout.

The London side played out a 2-2 draw in regulation time with the French champions but fell short from the spot, missing out on back-to-back European titles after last season’s Europa League triumph over Manchester United.
Kudus, who joined Spurs this summer from West Ham United in a £55 million deal on a six-year contract, featured for 79 minutes before being replaced by Mathys Tel. His debut showcased glimpses of his quality, completing two of three dribbles, 10 of 12 passes, and winning five of 11 ground duels.

At the time of his substitution, Spurs were leading 2-0 thanks to goals from defenders Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero. However, PSG staged a dramatic late comeback with Lee Kang-In scoring in the 85th minute and Gonçalo Ramos equalising in stoppage time.

The result handed Tottenham a painful defeat in their second straight European final.
Next up, Spurs begin their 2025/26 Premier League campaign at home against Burnley on Saturday, August 16 at 14:00 GMT.
“I feel disappointed to lose the game in the end. This is a big lesson to stay focused for the whole 90 minutes, but I’m really, really proud of the team”
