Media personality MC Yaa Yeboah has opened up about a traumatic childhood incident, alleging that a police officer attempted to assault her while she sought refuge at a station.
MC Yaa Yeboah, a prominent media personality, has opened up about her childhood, sharing a heart-wrenching account of the adversity and hardship she faced.
In a candid conversation with Nana Romeo on Accra 100.5 FM’s Ayekoo Ayekoo, MC Yaa Yeboah reflected on her upbringing in the Accra Newtown Zongo slums, where she faced numerous challenges.

”I was exposed to a lot of violence and different characters”
Yeboah described navigating her surroundings as a challenge, explaining,
”You couldn’t navigate your way through properly” and There was no one to help me, and shape my thinking and my behaviour.”
Regarding her family life, Yeboah shared that while her mother “did her best possible,” she was often absent due to travel, leaving her with bulk-cooked food and little emotional support. She also spoke about her father, whom she initially described as “a good man,” but who became abusive over time, resulting in a strained relationship.
To escape her difficult home life, Yeboah worked at a savings and loans company during school holidays and eventually ran away, wandering the streets of Abeka. She recalled times when she pretended to be stranded and sought help from strangers.

One particularly harrowing experience involved being taken to a police station, where she was nearly assaulted by a policeman. Yeboah expressed gratitude for being rescued from that situation.
After being returned home, her father showed little concern for her well-being, which led her to make the decision to leave. Upon completing sixth form, she moved in with a friend, Adwoa Pokua, who offered her care and support.

Yeboah acknowledged Pokua’s kindness, recalling how her friend’s boyfriend had even given her money to celebrate her first birthday. She expressed deep gratitude for Pokua’s support and role in her life.
In stark contrast to her tumultuous childhood, Yeboah’s life has taken a positive turn. She now enjoys a successful career as a media personality.
