Marriage Is An Assignment, Not An Achievement – Apostle Johnson Suleman
Renowned Nigerian preacher and General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has stirred conversations online following comments he made about marriage during a church service.
In a video sighted on his official X (formerly Twitter) page, the cleric was seen speaking to his congregation, where he stressed that marriage should not be treated as a personal achievement but as a serious responsibility.

“Marriage is an assignment, not an achievement. Africans need a change of mentality,” Apostle Suleman stated while ministering. He explained that unlike achievements, which are celebrated and concluded, assignments demand continuous effort, accountability, sacrifice, and emotional maturity.

According to him, many marital challenges in Africa stem from societal pressure and the mindset that marriage is a status symbol rather than a lifelong responsibility. He urged individuals to move away from entering marriage for validation, age pressure, or comparison, noting that such motives often lead to broken homes.

The outspoken preacher further advised couples and intending partners to focus on preparation, understanding, and growth rather than external expectations. He emphasized that a healthy marriage requires deliberate work from both partners, long after the wedding celebration is over.
