“Marriage Is A Costly Commitment For Men” – Stonebwoy Lament

Renowned Ghanaian dancehall artiste Stonebwoy has described marriage as a costly undertaking for men, emphasizing that it involves much more than just financial input.

In an exclusive interview with Joy Prime, the award-winning musician shared insights into his experience as a married man, noting that marriage demands significant investments of time, energy, and emotional effort.

“Marriage is expensive, and having a wife comes with its own set of costs,” Stonebwoy said. “You have to invest your time which is valuable and commit resources that aren’t easy to come by. Giving your full attention is also a form of investment, and that too has its price. These things can’t simply be bought.”

The “Therapy” hitmaker pointed out that societal expectations often place a heavy burden on men to fulfill most marital responsibilities, making the role particularly demanding for husbands.

“As a man, I grew up in a home where responsibility was evident,” he remarked. “Society expects men to be providers and caretakers. It’s a demanding role, and it’s far from cheap. The financial and emotional costs are very real.”

Stonebwoy and his wife, Dr. Louisa Ansong, recently marked their eighth wedding anniversary. The couple, who share two children, are widely admired in Ghana, with the artiste frequently expressing his love and appreciation for his family.

Despite the demands, the Bhim Nation leader believes that with the right mindset and dedication, the benefits of marriage ultimately outweigh the sacrifices.
