Mahama Orders MMDCEs To Declare Assets By July 15
President John Dramani Mahama has issued a directive to all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to declare their assets by July 15, 2025, in line with constitutional requirements.
Speaking at an orientation and training program for MMDCEs held in Accra on Wednesday, July 18, the President underscored the importance of transparency and accountability in public service.

“I wish to remind you that you are among the office holders required to declare your assets, and so I expect that by July 15, all of you will have declared your assets,” President Mahama stated.
Under Article 286 of the 1992 Constitution, all public officers are mandated to declare their assets upon assuming office and after leaving office.
Since taking office in January 2025, President Mahama has emphasized asset declaration as a key tool in the fight against corruption and in restoring public trust in government. He noted that all his appointees have been required to comply with this constitutional obligation.
He further warned that any MMDCE who fails to declare their assets by the stipulated deadline would face the appropriate sanctions, just as other defaulting officials have in the past.
President Mahama urged MMDCEs to use the 80% share of the District Assembly Common Fund, which would be allocated directly to their offices, responsibly and effectively.
