This initiative, spearheaded by the Africa Governance Centre (AGC), aims to foster inter-party dialogue, strengthen democratic governance, and promote political cooperation across the African continent.

The launch event, held at the Accra International Conference Centre, attracted distinguished political leaders from various African nations. In his keynote address, President Mahama emphasized the importance of unity among African political parties to achieve an integrated, prosperous, and peaceful Africa driven by its citizens. He commended the AGC for its vision in promoting cross-party engagement and capacity building, highlighting the need to position politics as a driver for positive transformation.

The APPI’s vision centers on non-partisan and non-ideological inter-party dialogue, adopting a pan-African approach to address development challenges. This initiative seeks to break down cultures of mistrust and deep divisions among political parties, enhancing their capacity to confront challenges requiring collective responses.

The event also served as a precursor to the upcoming African Political Parties Summit, scheduled for July 2025. This summit aims to bring together political parties from Africa and the Caribbean to chart a progressive path toward development, good governance, and economic transformation.
