Mahama Arrives At Kofi Annan ICT Centre To Launch Game-Changing ‘One Million Coders’ Initiative
President John Dramani Mahama officially launched the ambitious One Million Coders Programme today at the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT, Accra.
This initiative aims to train one million Ghanaians in digital skills—including coding, cybersecurity, data analytics, and networking—over the next four years, as part of the government’s Reset Ghana Agenda.
In his address, President Mahama emphasized that this programme is more than a campaign promise; it’s a strategic move to build a knowledge-based, innovation-driven economy. He urged the youth to seize this opportunity, stating, “You are not just participants in this initiative, you are the architects of Ghana’s digital future.
The programme has already seen significant interest, with over 90,000 applications received within 48 hours of its announcement. Initial training sessions have commenced in Accra, Kumasi, Sunyani, and Bolgatanga, with plans to expand to community information centres nationwide. The curriculum, developed by the Kofi Annan Centre, offers certifications in areas such as cybersecurity, network support, and data protection.
