The cinema premiere of Kwadwo Nkansah Lilwin’s movie, A Country Called Ghana, is scheduled for Friday, February 28, 2025, at Silverbird Cinemas in both Ghana and Nigeria.

Since its debut last year, the film has received multiple international accolades, including Best Indigenous Film at the 2024 Nollywood Film Festival, as well as Best Production Design and Best Make-Up Film at the 2024 Imo International Film Festival, among others.

During a media engagement in Kumasi, the film’s director, Frank Fiifi Ghabin, shared plans to premiere the movie in cinemas across all 16 regions of Ghana.

The event was attended by Kwadwo Nkansah Lilwin, his wife, Okyeame Akwadaa Nyame (Public Relations Officer of Wezzy Empire), and notable figures from the movie industry.

Mr. Ghabin further disclosed that A Country Called Ghana has secured 17 awards out of 33 nominations, both locally and internationally, despite various challenges faced since its premiere.

He stated that beyond providing entertainment for Ghanaians and Nigerians, the movie has also helped to promote and elevate the Ghanaian film industry and the country’s image on the global stage.

According to him, their success on the international scene led to a request for the film to be submitted for cinema distribution consideration, ultimately resulting in Silverbird Distribution International selecting it for premiere.

“In Nigeria, the movie will have a nationwide premiere, so whether you’re in Lagos, Abuja, Ikeja, Onitsha, or any other city, look out for A Country Called Ghana at a cinema near you,” he announced.

He urged movie enthusiasts and the media in Nigeria to help promote the film, emphasizing that it was more than just entertainment—it was a platform to showcase Ghana to the world.

“We are presenting A Country Called Ghana not just as a film but as a way to promote Ghana globally through authentic African storytelling,” Mr. Ghabin stressed.

In Ghana, the movie will premiere on February 28 at Silverbird Cinemas in Accra Mall and West Hills Mall in Accra, as well as Golden Eagle Cinema in Kumasi, before expanding to other regions.

Mr. Kwadwo Nkansah Lilwin highlighted the significant investment made in the project and called on all stakeholders to support the local film industry.

He explained that in his quest to meet international standards, he had to acquire high-quality production equipment from outside the country to ensure top-tier visuals and sound quality.

He told the media that his ultimate goal is to have the movie featured on Netflix, and even if it doesn’t happen immediately, he remains committed to producing high-quality films until he achieves that milestone.

To make this vision a reality, he emphasized the need for support from all industry stakeholders, including the media and the government, as Ghana continues its efforts to gain international recognition in the film industry.
