In a formal petition addressed to the Minister of Communications and Digital Technology, Samuel Nartey George, the artists voiced their frustration over the lack of transparency surrounding their earnings on the platform since April 2023.
They allege that repeated attempts to seek clarity have been ignored by both Boomplay and their distribution partners.
“Lali x Lola have not received any reliable accounting or revenue from Boomplay for the streaming of our content,” the duo stated in their petition. They highlighted the emotional and financial strain such neglect places on creatives when digital platforms fail to honor their responsibilities.
Beyond their individual experience, Lali x Lola are calling on the government to implement stronger oversight mechanisms for digital service providers operating in Ghana. Their appeal has sparked widespread discussion on social media, with several other musicians expressing similar frustrations and rallying in support.
