The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) community is mourning the tragic loss of Joana Deladem Yabani, a final-year Biological Sciences student.

Her lifeless body was discovered near the Disability and Rehabilitation Centre on campus at approximately 5:00 a.m. on February 27, 2025.

Upon receiving the distress report, KNUST Security Services promptly transported Miss Yabani to the University Health Services, where medical personnel confirmed her passing.

In response to this tragic event, the university has launched a comprehensive investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding her death. The investigation involves KNUST Internal Security, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), and the University Health Services.

University authorities have urged the campus community to remain calm and refrain from spreading unverified information that could cause unnecessary panic. They have assured students, staff, and the public that updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
