Kennedy Agyapong Leads Early With 51.4% In NPP Flagbearer Race Survey
A preliminary survey conducted by civil society organization Sanity Africa shows former Assin Central MP, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, emerging as the frontrunner in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer race, securing 51.4% of delegate support.

The study, conducted between April and June 2025, assessed the voting intentions of delegates listed in the current voter album ahead of the NPP’s presidential primaries.
Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia trails with 42.2% support, while Dr. Bryan Acheampong and Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum follow with 3.1% and 3.0%, respectively.
Sanity Africa noted that the findings represent an early snapshot of delegate preferences. The survey is part of a three-phase research effort, with subsequent rounds scheduled for October 2025 and January 2026.
According to the report, Agyapong enjoys broad-based support across the NPP delegate landscape, leading especially among women (57.8%), delegates under 40 years old (63%), students (58.9%), the unemployed (52.8%), and self-employed groups such as traders, market women, artisans, and farmers (55.5%).

Regionally, he leads in 10 out of 16 regions, with particularly strong showings in Central (68.1%), Western (59.5%), and Eastern (60.8%).
Dr. Bawumia, meanwhile, holds a slight edge among male delegates (48.9%) and maintains majority support among delegates aged 40 and above as well as those in full-time employment (53.8%). He also leads among Muslim delegates, with 52.8% backing him as their preferred candidate.
Sanity Africa cautioned that while these findings offer valuable insight into current trends, delegate sentiments may shift once official campaigning begins. The upcoming phases of the study will include new delegate groups such as former appointees and ex-party officials to reflect changes in the voter album.
The message is clear: @realKenAgyapong isn’t rising by accident, he’s leading because the grassroots are awake!
When polls talk to delegates, not random voters, the truth surfaces and that truth is 51.4% for Ken. Not noise. Not manipulation. Just raw, organic support.
