Ken Ofori-Atta Officially Listed On Interpol’s Red Notice As A Wanted Person
Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has been officially added to INTERPOL’s Red Notice database, following a renewed request by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
This development comes as part of ongoing corruption investigations and represents an escalation in efforts to bring the former minister to justice.
The Red Notice, made public on June 6, 2025, identifies Ofori-Atta as a 65-year-old Ghanaian male, born on November 7, 1959, in Accra. He is wanted on charges of “Using Public Office for Profit.”

According to the OSP, Ofori-Atta is believed to be in the United States undergoing medical treatment. Authorities are now seeking international cooperation to locate and provisionally arrest him, pending extradition or voluntary surrender.
This is the second time the OSP has declared the former minister a wanted person.
In February 2025, he was labeled a “fugitive from justice” after failing to respond to a summons to appear before investigators in connection with several high-profile corruption cases.
These cases include controversies surrounding the National Cathedral project and a revenue assurance agreement with Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML).
During a press briefing in Accra on June 2, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng revealed that the request for the Red Notice had been formally submitted just 30 minutes before the announcement.
He also noted that Mr. Ofori-Atta’s medical records did not offer a valid excuse for his absence and stressed that his physical presence is essential to the investigation.
The OSP’s move has ignited political debate, with some praising it as a bold step in the fight against corruption, while others question its motives and timing.
