Julius Debrah Reportedly Summons Sammy Gyamfi Over Agradaa Dollar Controversy
Reports indicate that Chief of Staff Julius Debrah has summoned Sammy Gyamfi, Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, to explain his involvement in a viral video showing him handing over large sums of cash to former fetish priestess turned evangelist, Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Nana Agradaa.

The video, which surfaced on social media platform X, sparked widespread criticism. It shows Sammy Gyamfi standing next to his white Range Rover, posing for a photo with Nana Agradaa. Following a brief exchange, Gyamfi enters his car, where he is seen counting several US dollar notes.
Nana Agradaa is then heard demanding that Gyamfi hand over all the money rather than a portion. She eventually grabs the entire bundle from him, walks off, and flashes the cash to onlookers, declaring, “I have taken dollars from Sammy Gyamfi.”
The incident has triggered backlash and internal scrutiny. Sources close to the presidency suggest that Julius Debrah has called for an explanation from Sammy Gyamfi, emphasizing the seriousness with which the office views such conduct.
Debrah has previously warned that no justification would be accepted if any government appointee acts outside the boundaries of President John Dramani Mahama’s Code of Conduct. He reiterated that all appointees must uphold the highest standards of accountability and public decorum.
In response to the controversy, Sammy Gyamfi has issued a public apology, describing the incident as a “regrettable act of indiscretion.” He explained that giving money to those in need has long been his personal practice and that the gesture toward Nana Agradaa was in line with that tradition.
