Born on February 3, 1984, John Dumelo began his education at Christ the King School in Accra, later attending Achimota Senior High School. He pursued Civil Engineering at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Dumelo’s career transitioned from acting to agriculture, where he has made significant contributions.
Dumelo’s passion for agriculture led him to establish a substantial farming enterprise, cultivating over 2,000 acres across Ghana. His ventures include maize, rice, ginger, mushrooms, and livestock farming. He advocates for youth involvement in agriculture, emphasizing its potential to drive national development.
In 2016, Dumelo actively supported the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during the presidential campaign. He later contested the Ayawaso West Wuogon parliamentary seat in 2019, securing victory in the December 2024 elections. Dumelo has been vocal in advocating for agricultural reforms. He recommended the discontinuation of the Planting for Food and Jobs program, suggesting a focus on irrigation infrastructure to support dry-season farming.
