I’m Returning The $800; I Won’t Be The Cause Of His Dismissal – Agradaa On Sammy Gyamfi’s Gift
Nana Agradaa, the self-styled evangelist and former fetish priestess, has announced that she will return a cash gift of $800 given to her by Sammy Gyamfi, the Acting Managing Director of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), following growing public pressure and calls for his dismissal.

The controversial gift sparked widespread criticism, with many questioning the appropriateness of a public official making such a gesture—especially to a figure as polarizing as Agradaa. Critics argue that the act undermines the Code of Conduct for Public Officials recently launched by former President John Mahama, which emphasizes integrity, accountability, and transparency in public service.
Facing increasing backlash, particularly from members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Agradaa stated that she has no desire to be the reason Sammy Gyamfi loses his position.
“If my name will be on the chopping block for the dismissal of Sammy Gyamfi, then I’ll go and change some cedis to dollars, multiply it, and return it,” she said in a video posted on Sunday, May 11, 2025. “I don’t need your money. That’s what you want. I’ll return it, and when I’m coming, I’ll bring my own phone, record it, and post it. That way, those of you who are upset over the $800 Sammy Gyamfi gave me will be okay.”
She also expressed confusion over the outrage, questioning why members of the NDC were concerned about the value of the gift. “If Sammy Gyamfi gifts me US$800, you’re saying it belongs to Ghana? How much is $800? Don’t do that. The Bible says to be happy for one another’s gains,” she stated.
Sources have confirmed that Sammy Gyamfi was summoned to the Jubilee House on Monday, May 12, 2025, by the Chief of Staff to provide clarity on the matter. The situation has stirred discontent not just because of the monetary value of the gift, but because of Agradaa’s controversial past. She has previously faced legal troubles for allegedly defrauding followers under her former identity as a fetish priestess before rebranding as an evangelist.
With the incident gaining momentum, pressure continues to mount on both Agradaa and Gyamfi, as the public and party insiders demand accountability and adherence to the ethical standards set for public servants.
