Igbo ‘King’ Offers Apology To Ghanaians After Meeting With Foreign Minister
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has held a meeting with Mr. Chukwudi Jude Ihenetu, the self-proclaimed King of the Igbo community in Ghana, following widespread concerns over his alleged intentions to establish an “Igbo Kingdom” within the country.

During the meeting, the Nigerian national clarified that the controversy stems from a 2013 interview in which he discussed such plans remarks he now describes as misguided and deeply regrettable. He emphasized that the idea has long been abandoned and holds no relevance today.

Mr. Ihenetu issued a heartfelt apology to the people of Ghana, traditional leaders, and government authorities for any distress or misunderstanding caused. He reaffirmed his respect for Ghana’s sovereignty and unity, assuring that no such kingdom has been created nor will it ever be pursued.
