Speaking during an engagement with civil society groups in Accra, Mahama stated that accountability and transparency will be cornerstones of his leadership. He emphasized that those found to have engaged in corrupt practices, regardless of their political affiliation or status, will face the full force of the law. “We are going to build strong institutions that work. I will not shield anyone from anti-corruption investigations—whether they are in my government or elsewhere,” Mahama declared.

President noted that one of the critical challenges Ghana faces is the growing public perception that the political elite are immune to punishment. “It’s time to end impunity. We must demonstrate that no one is above the law if we are to regain public trust,” he added.
Mahama also pledged to empower anti-corruption institutions such as the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), and the Auditor-General’s Department with the autonomy and resources necessary to function effectively.
He stressed that fighting corruption is not only about prosecution but also about strengthening preventive systems, ensuring procurement transparency, and cutting waste in public spending.
Mahama’s remarks come at a time when several current and former public officials are facing investigations over alleged financial improprieties.
President John Mahama says he will not interfere in the work of anti-corruption agencies or influence them to halt investigations involving anyone, whether former or current government officials.#3NewsGH
