I Went Into Depression After Losing My Toes — Sonnie Badu
Renowned Ghanaian gospel singer and preacher, Evangelist Sonnie Badu, has spoken candidly about a difficult period in his life following the loss of two toes after a domestic accident.
According to the celebrated gospel minister, the incident led him into a severe emotional downturn, a struggle that still lingers because he has never fully understood how the accident occurred.
Speaking on Bread of Life, a programme on Promise Radio hosted by Pastor Mrs Patricia Morgan, widely known as Mama Pat, the Baba hitmaker described the experience as one of the most challenging seasons of his life.

“I went through a very dark period, yet I was still preaching. I fell into serious depression,” Sonnie Badu revealed.
He explained that although he continued to minister publicly, he was privately battling deep emotional pain and confusion.
“There were times I would switch off the lights in my office and sit in silence for about six hours, saying nothing to anyone. I would only step out to preach and minister, then return back to the room,” he recounted.

Sonnie Badu added that the incident left him emotionally shaken, noting that he still struggles to fully comprehend how it happened.
“I still don’t understand how it occurred,” he stated.
The gospel musician suffered the accident just days before his Rhythm of Africa concert on December 9, 2023. Following the incident, speculation spread on social media, with some alleging that the injury was staged as a publicity stunt ahead of the event. However, Sonnie Badu firmly dismissed those claims, insisting that the accident was genuine and not a promotional strategy.
