In a recent interview with Blac Volta, D-Black, whose real name is Desmond Blackmore, recounted how his passion for music clashed with the strict regulations of the Catholic boys’ school. He explained that his first infraction involved leaving the boarding school in Koforidua without authorization to record songs with prominent artists Obrafour and Edem in Accra, which led to his initial suspension.

Despite this warning, D-Black continued to breach school rules by sneaking off to Accra to pursue his music career, resulting in more severe sanctions. His third offense—returning late to class from a weekend trip to Accra despite being deboarded—ultimately led to his expulsion after a disciplinary committee hearing. He noted that he was among five students expelled for similar reasons.
