Legendary Ghanaian gospel musician Amy Newman has opened up about a painful chapter in her life, revealing that she was once falsely accused of pursuing another woman’s husband.

Speaking in an interview on Efie Ne Fie on Onua FM, the gospel icon recounted how the incident deeply affected her and became one of the most difficult moments in her career and personal life.

According to Amy Newman, the accusation which occurred in the year 2000 was completely false, yet it caused her immense emotional pain because it happened while she herself was married.

She explained:

“In 2000, I was falsely accused of chasing a married man while I was married. That dark period in my life gave birth to my song ‘Okamafo Jesus.’”

Amy Newman noted that the situation pushed her closer to God and inspired her to channel her pain into music, resulting in one of her most powerful and spiritually comforting songs.
