I Turned To God After Suffering A Heartbreak – Perez Musik

The journey to salvation is different for everyone, with each person’s transformation shaped by unique life experiences. For Ghanaian gospel artiste Perez Musik, his turning point came after a painful heartbreak several years ago.

In an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, the Blema Tesaa hitmaker revealed that before giving his life to Christ, he had experimented with various worldly lifestyles, including smoking. However, it was a personal experience that redirected him to God.

“The truth is, it started with a heartbreak. Andy, don’t laugh at me. At that point, it was very painful. I’ve never told the story before but I will say it without mentioning names. Somebody in the industry was hitting on my girlfriend back then,” Perez recounted.

He explained that he first grew suspicious when he introduced his girlfriend to a friend and noticed that the friend took her phone number.

“The next time, they were talking. And this was somebody that was my ‘buddy buddy.’ That’s why I don’t really make friends,” he said.

Perez narrated a key moment when he discovered their closeness.

“One day, I went out with my friend, and he gave me his phone to make a call. Then my girlfriend’s display photo popped up on his phone. I opened it and said ‘yo.’ I just gave the phone back to him and went home. I didn’t say anything to him,” he added.

According to Perez Musik, the heartbreak triggered a deep reflection on his life and ultimately led him to seek God. Since becoming born again, he says he has found peace, joy, and fulfillment in serving the Lord.

Perez has since risen to become one of Ghana’s celebrated gospel musicians, winning Songwriter of the Year and Best Male Vocal Performance at the 24th Ghana Music Awards. His hit songs include Majie Oyi, Kaafo, Walatse, and Hewale Lala.
