I Have Never Been Single – Akuapem Poloo Claims

Ghanaian actress and socialite Akuapem Poloo, born Rosemond Alade Brown, says she has never been single—and she’s perfectly fine with that.

In a candid interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM, Poloo revealed she’s always been in a relationship. “I’ve never been single in my life. The moment there’s a breakup, I’m already with someone else,” she said.

Having been in about seven relationships, her longest spanning eight years, she is currently dating and recently welcomed her second child, a baby girl. However, she’s in no rush to marry, insisting dating brings her more joy.

“Dating is sweeter than marriage,” she explained. “Let’s live like a married couple without the stress of actually getting married.”

Poloo argued that dating maintains excitement, while marriage often brings pressure and complacency. She also highlighted how society unfairly burdens women after failed marriages, saying it’s harder for women to move on.

“This is why many women stay in abusive marriages. Men move on easily, but women are judged.”

Though not entirely against marriage, she said any future wedding will happen only when her partner—currently working abroad—feels ready. “Wedding takes money. He’s working towards it,” she said.

For now, she’s focused on family and faith. Her mother recently converted to Islam, following Poloo’s own conversion three years ago. “I pray Allah blesses us with a family,” she said. “But I won’t be surprised if I never marry. I’m okay with that.”

Poloo concluded with a laugh: “I’m under control now. Something is controlling me.”
