“I Can Finally ‘See’ Your Joy” – Kofi Adomah Shares Heartfelt Message Amid Eye Injury Recovery
Ghanaian journalist Kofi Adomah Nwanwani has moved many with a deeply emotional message shared on social media: “I finally ‘see’ you happy and it gives me joy, my love. #Mawuli.” The sentiment holds deep weight given his recent battle with a life-altering eye injury.
In December 2024, while covering the Kwafie Festival in Dormaa, Bono Region, Adomah was accidentally hit in the face by gunpowder from a fired musket. The explosion severely damaged one eye, leaving him completely blind in that eye and with blurred vision in the other.
After receiving initial care in Ghana, Adomah was flown to Dubai for advanced treatment, thanks to a generous $115,000 contribution from businessman Ibrahim Mahama. Following multiple surgeries, he returned to Ghana in March 2025 and has been on a difficult but determined road to recovery.
His recent message, invoking “Mawuli”—an Ewe name meaning “There is a God”—has been widely seen as a powerful expression of gratitude and renewed faith. His wife, Miracle Adomah, also posted a joyful video celebrating his progress, underscoring the couple’s resilience and belief throughout the ordeal.
Adomah’s experience has drawn attention to the dangers faced by journalists in the field, while his strength and perseverance continue to inspire many across the country and beyond.
