Speaking on the U-Cook show with Empress Gifty on UTV, the award-winning singer shared that while she attended school like every other child, she soon realized her strengths were not in academic work but in singing and ministering.

According to her, it was this self-awareness that pushed her to take music seriously from a young age.
“I began singing back in school when I realized school wasn’t really helping me. That was when I knew music was my path,” she said.
Obaapa Christy added that discovering her gift early shaped her entire journey, helping her build a successful career that has spanned decades. She encouraged parents and young people to pay attention to their natural talents and not rely solely on classroom performance to determine their future.

Today, Obaapa Christy is one of Ghana’s most celebrated gospel artistes, known for timeless hits and an inspiring story that continues to motivate aspiring musicians across the country.
