According to a report shared by Asaase Radio on its official social media platforms, the family of Dada Kwakye Duah, popularly known as Dada KD, has confirmed his passing. The renowned “Odo Mu Anigye” hitmaker reportedly died at Gbawe Hospital in Accra on Friday, May 16, 2025.

While the cause of his death remains unknown, the family has yet to release an official statement.

Dada KD was a prominent figure in contemporary highlife music, widely celebrated for his romantic ballads. Over the course of his career, he released nine albums, including the popular Somgye. His discography also includes Ebeboawo, Obiara Se Eye, Ode Twe Boom / NY Goes Boom Boom, and Mewura / Odo Mu Anigyebi.

Influenced by the legendary Nana Adumako Nyamekye and American singer Michael Bolton, Dada KD brought a unique blend of Ghanaian and international sounds to his music. He collaborated with several bands during his career, including Relatives in Germany, Kojo Antwi’s Band, Tropical Vibes, and Amakye Dede’s Band.

In 2004, he was honored as Best Male Vocal Artist at the Ghana Music Awards in Britain, a recognition bestowed by the Ghanaian community in the UK.

Although based in Germany, Dada KD frequently returned to Ghana to promote his music and connect with fans. He is survived by two children—a son and a daughter—with Cecilia Yaa Sarfoa, a Ghanaian also residing in Germany.
