Heritage Month: Kofi Okyere-Darko Urges Media To Play At Least 70% Ghanaian Music
Kofi Okyere-Darko, Director of Diaspora Affairs at the Office of the President, has called on Ghanaian media outlets to dedicate at least 70% of their airtime to Ghanaian music during March, celebrated as Heritage Month.
Speaking at the Heritage Month launch on March 3, 2025, at the Labadi Beach Hotel, Okyere-Darko emphasized the importance of showcasing national pride through local music. He stated, “For this month of March, please let us do Ghana music. I will entreat us to do at least 70 percent Ghanaian music.”

He further noted that Ghana possesses a rich musical repertoire sufficient to sustain programming throughout the month, encouraging media houses to prioritize local content. Okyere-Darko also urged Ghanaians to use Heritage Month as an opportunity for national reorientation, stating, “We have a beautiful country to build together; let’s all build the country we want together.”
