On June 1, 2025, she shared a video teaser of her latest single, “Move,” marking her musical comeback.

Opening with the line, “Life is a testimony,” the track reflects her journey of resilience and recovery after serving time behind bars.

Affectionately called Queen Mona by her fans, the influencer-turned-musician was released on May 22, 2025, from the Federal Detention Center in Philadelphia after completing a sentence of one year and one day.

According to the U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons, her release was followed by immigration procedures and a voluntary return to Ghana.

Her conviction was for conspiracy to receive stolen money, linked to a West Africa-based cybercrime syndicate involved in online fraud and romance scams.

Montrage was extradited from the UK to the U.S. in May 2023 and pleaded guilty in February 2024. She was sentenced on June 28, 2024, by U.S. District Judge J. Paul Oetken.

U.S. prosecutors stated that she played a role in a scheme that defrauded elderly Americans of over $2 million. She allegedly received funds from around 40 victims via U.S. bank accounts using false pretenses — including fabricated stories involving gold shipments, phony FBI cases, and fake U.S. Army officers needing financial help.

Court documents revealed that Montrage managed bank accounts that received over $2 million in fraudulent proceeds. Alongside her prison term, she was also sentenced to three years of supervised release, ordered to forfeit $216,475, and required to pay $1,387,458 in restitution.

Her legal team arranged a return plan to Ghana, which was approved by the sentencing judge. In court, they emphasized that she was prepared to turn a new leaf and make a positive impact in society.
