The Ghana Union of Traders’ Associations (GUTA) has urged traders across the country to revise the prices of goods and services to reflect the recent appreciation of the cedi against major foreign currencies.
According to GUTA, such price adjustments are necessary for consumers to experience the positive effects of the cedi’s strengthening on the forex market.
In a statement released on Sunday, May 11, 2025, and signed by its President, Dr. Joseph Obeng, the Association emphasized that reducing prices in line with the cedi’s gains would provide much-needed relief to the general public.

The Association had earlier commended the Bank of Ghana for its efforts in stabilizing the cedi during the first four months of the year. It urged the government to sustain this progress through effective and practical economic policies.
GUTA further noted that the cedi’s stability is crucial for business recovery and restoring investor confidence, particularly after the losses incurred from the currency’s steep depreciation prior to 2025.
