Speaking at the third-day funeral rites (Adua) of Alhaji Muniru Limuna Mohammed on Tuesday, August 12, the President announced that the fund will be officially launched during the state funeral on Friday, August 15.
“There will be a state funeral on Friday, 15th August. At the funeral, we will announce some programmes for creating a fund that will assist with the education of the children. Friday, I will announce the details of that, so that people who want to contribute to the future of the children they have left behind will have the opportunity to do so.
I believe that Allah will have mercy on him, forgive him for all his sins, and accept him,” President Mahama said.
The initiative follows the tragic crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District, which claimed eight lives, including Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah; Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed; Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Muniru Mohammed; former parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye; and NDC Vice Chairman Samuel Sarpong.

Also among the deceased were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
On Sunday, August 10, Ghanaians gathered to bid farewell to Dr. Murtala Muhammed and Muniru Mohammed. The upcoming state funeral at the Black Star Square will not only honour all victims but will also mark the formal launch of the Education Fund.
