Ghana’s Economy Expands By 6.3% In Q2 2025, Driven By Services Sector
Ghana’s economy expanded by 6.3% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2025, up from a revised 5.7% in the same period last year, according to fresh data from the Ghana Statistical Service.
The surge was largely driven by the services sector covering finance, insurance, trade, and education which recorded robust growth of 9.9%, a sharp rise from just 2% a year earlier.

Non-oil GDP grew by 7.8%, supported by strong performance in agriculture and other industries, which helped offset a decline in oil production.

Announcing the figures, Government Statistician Alhassan Iddrisu said the results highlight a firming recovery from Ghana’s most severe economic downturn in decades.
Inflation has also continued to retreat, dropping to 11.5% in August its lowest level since October 2021 surpassing the Finance Ministry’s year-end target of 11.9%.
The stronger-than-anticipated growth is expected to boost investor confidence as policymakers press ahead with efforts to maintain stability and implement IMF-backed reforms.
