This weekend’s finale brings together elite swimmers from 17 divisions, with national selectors in attendance to identify potential recruits for Team Ghana a testament to the league’s growing impact on the national sporting scene.

The competition will feature all major strokes and distances including 50m, 100m, 200m, and 400m races in Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Butterfly. It also includes the 200m and 400m Individual Medleys, as well as the crowd-favourite 4x50m Freestyle and Mixed Medley Relays. Participants range from the Under-8 age group to 18 & Over, offering a platform for swimmers at all levels.

Winners in each event will earn gold, silver, and bronze medals, while all relay team members will be rewarded. The top three clubs will also be celebrated with trophies and cash prizes, based on a points system: seven points for gold, three for silver, and one for bronze.

Individual excellence will also be recognised. Trophies and cash awards will be presented to the best overall male and female swimmers, alongside souvenirs for top performers in each age category.

From humble beginnings in 2022 with just seven clubs and 150 swimmers, the Ghana Swim League has grown into a nationwide sensation. Now in its third season, it boasts over 450 athletes from 15 clubs across Greater Accra, Ashanti, and Western regions.

Many talents discovered through the league have already gone on to represent Ghana at prestigious international events, including the African Games, African Championships, and even the Olympics.

This remarkable transformation is celebrated by Ghana Swimming Association President, Delphina Quaye, who noted that the league has significantly elevated the standard of competitive swimming in the country.
