Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture, Hon. John Dumelo, has assured Ghanaians that food prices are expected to decline in the coming months.

In an interview with Peace FM on May 26, 2025, Dumelo attributed the anticipated reduction to increased agricultural output and favorable weather conditions.

He emphasized the government’s commitment to boosting local food production through initiatives like the Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) program, aiming to alleviate the burden of high food costs on citizens.

Dumelo also highlighted the importance of supporting farmers, particularly cocoa producers, by ensuring fair pricing to discourage the sale of farmlands to illegal miners. He called for stricter regulations in the mining sector to protect agricultural lands and sustain food production.
