Ghana has secured a grant of 1.92 billion Japanese Yen (approximately US$13 million) from Japan to enhance and stabilize the electricity supply in Tamale City.

The agreement was formalized through an Exchange of Notes between Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and the Japanese Ambassador to Ghana, Yoshimoto Hiroshi.

This initiative aims to improve the reliability of power in Tamale, addressing the increasing demand for stable electricity in the region. Mr. Ablakwa highlighted that this project underscores the strong bond of friendship between Ghana and Japan.

The grant is expected to bolster economic activities in Tamale by ensuring a consistent power supply, thereby supporting local businesses and communities.

This development reflects the ongoing collaboration between Ghana and Japan in strengthening infrastructure and promoting sustainable growth.
