Her remarks, which have gained significant attention, express her frustration with the loud noise from trucks selling goods in residential areas as early as 6 AM. These trucks, particularly those vending ‘nkura duro,’ a traditional herbal remedy, play loud music and make announcements that disrupt people who are either still asleep or preparing for their day.
Berla referred to this as “noise pollution” and called for swift action to address these disturbances in urban areas.
Her comments have generated mixed reactions. Some people agree with her, acknowledging noise pollution as a serious issue in Ghana, while others defend the street vendors, arguing that they are simply trying to earn a living. A few even suggested that if the noise is a persistent issue, Berla should consider moving to a quieter neighborhood.
She posted on X (formerly Twitter) “Ghana is a sick country, honestly! Because explain to me why there’s a truck selling ‘nkura duro’ with loud music and announcements as early as 6am on the streets when people are sleeping or getting ready for work….That’s noise pollution…”
