Ghana Closes Embassy In Tehran Immediately Amid Iran-Israel Conflict
Amid intensifying tensions between Iran and Israel, the Government of Ghana has announced the immediate closure of its embassy in Tehran and the evacuation of its citizens from Iran.
Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa made the announcement via social media on Monday, June 16. He emphasized that the move was necessary to safeguard Ghanaian lives.
“In the interest of protecting Ghanaian lives, the Mahama administration has decided to immediately evacuate Ghanaians residing in Iran following the escalation of the Iran-Israel conflict,” the minister stated.

“To ensure the safety of our embassy staff, Ghana’s embassy in Tehran has been closed with immediate effect,” he added.
Mr. Ablakwa disclosed that Ghanaian diplomats, students, professionals, and other citizens currently in Iran will be evacuated through land borders.
He further noted that the government is closely monitoring the security situation in Israel and will issue further directives as needed.
“In the interim, we have directed that operations at the embassy in Tel Aviv be reduced to the barest minimum. All Ghanaians in Israel are advised to stay in close contact with our consular department,” he said.
The Minister assured that every effort is being made to ensure the safe evacuation of all affected Ghanaians.
