Former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings Passes On
Ghana is in mourning following the passing of former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.

She reportedly died in the early hours of Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the Ridge Hospital in Accra. Details surrounding her death are still emerging.
Nana Konadu, aged 76, was the wife of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings and a towering figure in Ghana’s political and social landscape.

A strong advocate for women’s rights, she was the founder of the National Democratic Party (NDP) after parting ways with the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Her lifelong dedication to women’s empowerment and social development earned her admiration across the nation.

Just weeks before her passing, she was seen at national events, including the memorial service for eight public servants who perished in a helicopter crash, held at the Forecourt of the Jubilee House.

She also attended the Dote Yie funeral rites of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, accompanied by her children, Amina Agyeman-Rawlings and Kimathi Agyeman-Rawlings.
Her death marks the end of an era and leaves a deep void in Ghana’s political and social history.
