Prophet Eric Boahen, Founder and Leader of Reign House Chapel in Accra, has urged celebrities to take their spiritual lives seriously, stressing that fame is more than admiration—it is a spiritual reality that comes with unseen consequences.

In an interview with Graphic Showbiz on Monday, September 1, he explained that life in the spotlight attracts both positive and negative attention, which often leaves celebrities vulnerable to depression, mental struggles, and even suicide. His warning, he said, is not meant to instill fear but to prepare public figures for the hidden battles of fame.

“Fame is not just recognition; it is spiritual, and it requires a solid foundation. Celebrities must strengthen themselves spiritually if they want to protect their success and mental well-being,” he noted.

Prophet Boahen further cautioned that many stars appear to have it all, yet they battle depression and, in some cases, take their own lives. For him, this is proof that fame carries weight beyond the surface, and entertainers must prepare wisely before stepping into the limelight.

While his counsel applies to all celebrities, he expressed deep concern for gospel artistes. According to him, singing about God should not be treated as showmanship. “Faith is not a costume for the cameras—it must be lived sincerely, both in private and in public,” he said.

Over the years, Prophet Boahen has dedicated himself to guiding entertainers spiritually, with his church hosting gospel acts such as Empress Gifty, Broda Sammy, MOG Music, Jak Alolome, Kofi Peprah, Moses OK, Maame Tiwa, and even highlife musician Kwabena Kwabena.

Weighing in on Pastor Mensah Otabil’s recent comments encouraging Christians to explore opportunities in entertainment without compromising their faith, Prophet Boahen agreed, adding that faith and entertainment are not mutually exclusive.

“Has any secular artiste ever complained of being corrupted by Christians? Then why assume the reverse? I encourage my members to get into acting, music, TV, and media—Christians must not shy away but rather own the space,” he emphasized.
