Ghanaian artist J.Derobie has shared his biggest regret since entering the music industry.

In a candid conversation on Daybreak Hitz, he revealed that fame has brought overwhelming pressure and scrutiny, often leaving him feeling suffocated.

He confessed that he misses the freedom of doing everyday tasks, like buying food, without being swarmed by fans.

“Like if I want to go and buy my waakye, sometimes, Oh, super, let me buy for you. Oh, no, no, make I go. I know what adey do, no,” he added.

When asked about his expectations when his career first took off, J.Derobie said:

“I imagined myself going to the top. And I still have that dream, you know. I still believe I will make it to the top, that we will win a Grammy and more.”

With multiple international collaborations and a new EP amassing millions of streams, it’s hard to believe that Derrick Obuobi Junior, popularly known as J.Derobie, was relatively unknown before Nigeria’s Mr Eazi signed him in 2020.

Under Mr Eazi’s mentorship and guidance, J.Derobie’s career skyrocketed, and he has been making strides in the industry ever since.
